Cry Baby

When I was in elementary school, I had a teacher who introduced me to the music of Harry Chapin. I particularly liked his Cat’s in the Cradle – I rather think everyone does. But when my teacher played The Shortest Story for us, he had to leave the room, because he simply got too emotional. Cry Baby

Getting Started

Just yesterday I cleared one of the final hurdles blocking my official participation in our non-profit, Sound Off. Of course, we’ve been setting things up and we’ve even launched our first campaign to help provide ASL interpreters and live captioning for AlterConf. This is all on top of the work we’ve already done to sponsor Getting Started

Party Victim

Someone stayed up a little too late last night. The first thing Molly said when she came in the door this morning was “I’m tired. I want to take a nap.” Who am I to argue with someone that cute?

Crawl Out Through The Fallout

I don’t play a tremendous number of video games. I’m not very good at them and I don’t find fast-action, murder-everyone style of game very interesting. However, games with a strong storyline are usually enough to pull me in. I’ve played each of the previous Fallout games (although I never finished Fallout New Vegas) and Crawl Out Through The Fallout

Holiday Cheer

Sometimes I don’t need to prompt Molly to pose for a photograph. My mom sent the goofy Christmas tree headband. Molly put it on immediately and cuddled with both the smilodon and artic fox stuffed critters she received for Christmas.

Molly’s First Computer

This year, the Hogsfather brought Molly her first computer: a little Arduino disguised as a desk clock. Molly has been interested in learning to code for some time, but I’ve been struggling with how to introduce her to something that can be super complex. Both of us wanted to jump right in and build a Molly’s First Computer

My Favourite Goofy Person

When I was a kid my mom would always make us stop what we were doing and pose for photographs. As a result, there are no photos of me actually having fun, but there are lots of photos of me looking annoyed, because I was having fun and really want to get back to having My Favourite Goofy Person

Scottish Tiger

We recently went on holiday to Scottland – more about that soon. Molly is not just My Favourite Person, but she’s also my favourite photographic subject. Of course, she doesn’t always enjoy being photographed. Fortunately, I found her in a good mood one morning on our drive down to the Southwest coast. I’m biased, but Scottish Tiger

Back Online

At long last, I’ve got my Web site back online. I don’t exactly recall when TextDrive shutdown unceremoniously, but I couldn’t really be bothered to find a new host. For a static site, there just seemed so much effort involved in setting up a Web site. Probably the biggest stumbling block has been my atrophied Back Online

Lies

There are three kinds of lies that people tell: social lies, lies about themselves, and lies about others. They start off harmless and get progressively more destructive. First, there are the lies that form the grease for society: “That shirt looks terrific on you”; “Sorry, we can’t come to your BBQ, we have a prior Lies
