Hemingway Cat

The end of April found us in Key West. One of the must see sights is the Hemingway House. Not so much because I’m a big fan of Hemingway, but because of the Cats. This particular cat reminds me very strongly of my buddy Spunk. Sadly, Spunk is no longer with us, but this fella Hemingway Cat

Anna’s New Friend

Anna greets the Spunk look-a-like. He was incredibly friendly and eager to have his chin scratched.

With A Face Like That

This cat knew he was the center of attention and loved every minute of it. I waited until after all the tourists had moved on to catch him in a natural pose.

Are You Backed Up?

Friday at work, I received a slightly panicked call from Anna: her 12″ PowerBook G4 had crashed. It had been acting slightly weird for some time (I thought it was just because she had a paltry 256MB of RAM) and had finally died. It wouldn’t boot at all, she said. When I got home, I Are You Backed Up?

Camden Hills State Park

Now that we live in northern Massachusetts it’s even easier for us to get away to one of our favourite vacation spots: Camden, Maine. We popped up for a quick overnight the first weekend of June — arriving on Saturday in time to go for a short hike in Camden Hills State Park where we Camden Hills State Park

South Taconic Trail

The last time Anna and I attempted the ascent onto the South Taconic trail, it all ended in tears. Anna’s tears specifically. It was early last summer and she really wasn’t in good enough shape to climb such a steep hill in somewhat warm weather. Yesterday, after visiting with Anna’s family, we returned to the South Taconic Trail

Little Helicopter That Could

Monday morning found me squatting on a stool in Anna’s midwife’s office waiting to listen to the heart beat of The Bean. Lisa, the midwife, entered, squirted some cold goo on Anna’s belly, and whipped out the doppler radar device (I’ve not bothered to figure out how this thing works). Shortly after placing a part Little Helicopter That Could

Maudslay State Park

This time last year, Anna and I were on our way over to the Cotswolds in England where we spent our days hiking from tea shop to tea shop and our evenings relaxing in pubs in quaint English country towns. In preparation for our trip we’d hiked a few hills in the Hudson Valley area Maudslay State Park

Team America

Last night, Anna made me watch Team America: World Police, by the creators of South Park. It was without a doubt, the worst movie I have ever seen. Yes, there were some funny parts — Kim Jong Il singing “I’m So Lonely” stands out — but by and large, it was an offensive and disgusting Team America

Augustus Loves the Park

Since we moved to Newburyport, I’ve been trying to get Augustus to go for a walk in the park behind our apartment. This has been complicated by several factors: the hundreds and hundreds of feet of bloody snow that fell this winter, the noise of cars rushing along Water/Merrimac St., and the harness. There really Augustus Loves the Park
