Bubbles Make Everyone Happy

As Anna and I sat outside Schemmy’s ice cream parlour, this young lady and her mother walked by pushing a stroller. Seeing our soft serve ice cream cones, while her mother went in to exchange a few hard earned bills for delightfully cool ice cream, this young lady entertained her young child by blowing bubbles.

Anna and Cousin Kim

Saturday we drove down to Montgomery, NY to visit Anna’s cousin Kim before she gave birth to her first child. We didn’t know that Kim would wind up pushing out her son merely 14 hours later — three weeks early.

Moody Views

After making a few traditional photographs using the binocular thingy as my subject, I made this moody photograph. I don’t know whether it was intentional or not (this was two years ago); but I’ll claim it was…

Ice Cream Lover

I’ve often wondered whether kids love ice cream because they can smear it everywhere or in spite of its tendency to render them a sticky mess. This kid didn’t seem at all concerned with such questions.

Row, Row, Row Your Boat

This little girl was messing around in the row boat as I walked by and was nice enough to pose for the fat old man who wanted to make a photograph of her. See! I don’t frighten children.

We Have A Winner

Grandma takes her grand-daughter to The Union Fair and wins her a prize. If my memory serves me correctly, I think there were only the two of them playing. So a prize wasn’t really something to worry about.

Music and Ice Cream

This young jazz fan was enjoying his ice cream cone in that way only small children can: by smearing it all over his face. Anna and I were at the Saugerties Jazz Festival with her friend Gretchen to hear another friend Jaff play. However, I couldn’t pass up this photograph.

Who’s Eatin’ Who?

The Union Fair features booths from all sorts of local organisations. I made it a point to stop and chat with many of the booth attendants, including this gentleman manning an Outdoorsman booth. Either this guy was supremely patient or he simply didn’t pick up on my attitude regarding hunting. Regardless, he was good-natured enough Who’s Eatin’ Who?

Looking Out to Sea

I know I’m not the first to see the similarity between these binocular things and a human face (the cover of Bill Bryson’s book, I’m A Stranger Here Myself, features a similar image). But as I stood beside the light house and tried to compose interesting photographs, this is what came into focus.
