From Seth Godin’s latest post
According to a recent report, more than two-thirds of recent immigrants to the USA send money home regularly. The worst-paid, poorest people in the country manage to save enough to send some back to the old country. The US Ambassador from El Salvador says that the two million Salvadorians in the U.S. sent enough money home to account for 13 percent of the GDP of his country.
This really makes me wonder why it is I’m always broke at the end of the month… what do we do with all that money?
It is approaching the wee hours, at the end of another warm day. I have just opened the windows in order to let some cooler air in. Someone or something outside has frightened a skunk. I am too tired to close all of the windows, but awake enough to write this post with a chuckle.
I just read this news item on CNN.com:
Iranians volunteer to fight Israel, and all I can say is the world must be coming to an end.
Am I being overly dramatic? Perhaps. But it would appear to me that this is all the current administration needs as an excuse to take action against Iran, who is already on our hit list.
Bush and friends are looking for another holy crusade of their own.
Some days I feel guilty for bringing a child into this madness. I hope that she will be strong enough and wise enough not only to survive, but perhaps to change this pattern of violence and insanity for the better. And I especially hope that there will be others like her.
