&lt;p&gt;I think we could well stand the average cost of a home falling to a level where it didn&#039;t take a $48K income (more than most folks make, to be sure) to afford it!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;But to take the article to task a little, four bedrooms and 2,200 sq ft is way bigger than &quot;starter home&quot; in my book. For example, $180K here will get you a heck of a lot of house, and there are even less expensive homes in the small towns which surround us. What&#039;s the median nationwide cost for a 1,700 sq ft 3 bedroom house?&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Actually, on this topic I&#039;m more interested in the anti-trust suit against the realtors. The standard 6% commission can be a lot of cake...&lt;/p&gt;
