There’s a new-ish restaurant in town, Phoenix Rising. They serve
traditional comfort foods like burgers, mac-n-cheese, pastas, etc. But
two things make them stand out:
- Most of their ingredients come from local farms.
- They offer a 4 oz burger along with the more popular 8 oz
burger.
For someone like me who simply can’t finish a burger at most
restaurants, this is a wonderful feature. Most of the time I must
either choose to leave half my burger uneaten or over eat and feel
sick. Phoenix now gives me another choice. That’s really great.
They also offer a broad enough menu that almost anyone we take to
dinner will find something to eat. I’m always a little cautious about
restaurants with an overly wide selection, because I don’t think they
can do everything good. On the other hand, comfort food doesn’t require
a culinary genius.
While this isn’t terribly political, I just wanted to announce the
Rhinebeck Democrats Web site. Some time ago, I
volunteered to take over delivery of the Demogram, the monthly
newsletter of the Rhinebeck Democratic Committee. I started talking
about publishing the newsletter on the Web and things just grew from
there.
Please stop by and let me know what you think. I’m trying out the
new 3.0 version of MovableType, a
newer version of the same software that runs this site. And I’m
impressed with some of the capabilities. Mostly, I’ve found ways to do
things that I’ve been longing to do here for some time. That probably
means I’ll be redesigning metrocat.org soon…

If you haven’t already gone to see The Corporation, it’s
playing at Upstate Films.
I’m not entirely certain how I feel after seeing it. I’ll need to think
about it some more, but I know for certain that we will only be buying
organic milk from now on.
I’m certain Anna will have a more detailed review of the film
soon.
